Whistles
Our ancestors used to blow the horn to signal their friends, today whistles are used for shorter distances. Mirrors
Mirrors are used light signaling. Their range depends only on the size of the signaling mirror in question. To "flash" the mirror in the right direction, signal mirrors are usually equipped with a peephole, a hole through which the user looks in the direction he wants to flash.
